Founded in 1972, by Dick Balcom a former Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Photo Scan of Los Angeles beginnings originated with innovative video systems but quickly evolved to include access control and intrusion detection systems.
Harnessing Balcom’s passion and unique insight into physical security, PSLA Security quickly evolved to become one of the leading integrators in the United States and a founding member of PSA Security Network, the world’s largest systems integrator consortium made up of the most progressive security and audio-visual systems integrators in North America.
Our success in providing and servicing innovative and reliable systems naturally led to expansion into access control, intrusion detection, and cyber security. Using his knowledge of security, Balcom has built a company that designs, installs and maintains security systems either on a Lease (including maintenance) or Purchase (with maintenance agreement) basis. PSLA is now a second-generation family-owned business.
For over 40 years, we have established a marketing and service area in Southern California. PSLA has evolved into one of the leading system integrators in the western United States. Our company is renowned for engineering solutions that deliver a lower overall cost of ownership than our competitors.

PSLA has one of the few UL 2050 certification listings for the region. This certification is required for government “sensitive compartmented information facility” (SCIF) and other specialized containers and TSC systems.
